Traffic Operations
TCN is experienced at traffic operations on streets, highways and freeways. Tim Miller has over 18 years experience as a public agency traffic engineer for three cities and one state DOT. This gives the firm special understanding of the pressures and politics that are typical of client agencies. Example traffic operations projects include measures to improve traffic circulation, increase safety, reduce fuel consumption and vehicle emissions. Projects have included roadway and intersection capacity analysis, roadway rechannelization, interection widening for additional turn lanes, traffic signal re-phasing, replacement of aged traffic controllers, HOV lanes and signal treatments and traffic signal coordination.
Traffic Facility Analysis and Design The firm’s staff are experienced in the analysis and design of a wide range of traffic facilities, including traffic signal systems, roadways and interchange ramp terminals. Special consideration for intersection geometrics to accommodate large vehicle turning paths is one area of expertise. TCN has completed initial analysis and feasibility studies, prepared plans, specifications and estimates and has provided bidding and construction technical assistance for traffic facility projects.
Other Specialties TCN staff have experience in preparing construction staging and traffic detour plans, street lighting design, traffic control sign design, pavement marking and channelization plans. The firm also conducts traffic speed studies, traffic count studies and develops residential traffic calming plans.
