Railroad Impacts on Street Systems TCN served as prime consultant on a major study funded by the Washington State Legislature - Legislative Transportation Committee. This study focused on the impacts to the local street system caused by increased train operations on the Stampede Pass mainline in Auburn, Washington. This multi-faceted study involved the following elements:
- Considered relocating rail lines vertically and horizontally.
- Considered rail line junction radius improvements to increase train speeds.
- Quantified changes to street system Measures of Effectiveness caused by train operations using a specially developed TModel2 module.
- Developed multiple alternatives for grade separations and bypass roadways at several grade crossings.
- Developed cost estimates for selected grade separation and bypass roadway project groups.
- Developed method for rating project groups both qualitatively and quantitatively.
- Recommended the project group that had the best combined benefit for the cost involved.
Grade Separations TCN has planned alternative grade separation configurations such as overpass, underpass and realigned overpass to best fit the land use and environmental constraints of the site.
Grade Crossings TCN has the ability to arrange for the design and construction of grade crossing signalization. Contacts with industry and regulatory agency personnel are maintained by TCN to ensure the best information is available for use on each grade crossing project. |
