Transportation Consulting Northwest (TCN) is a consulting engineering company specializing in the transportation and traffic engineering field. Corporate headquarters are located in Auburn, Washington. Our client base covers the northwest states of Alaska, Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

Serving both public and private clients, TCN has performed a wide variety of traffic engineering and transportation planning related services and projects. TCN is regularly sought by other firms as a specialty team member on larger projects. In turn, TCN often serves as prime consultant with several subconsultants working under the firm.

Public agency work has included area wide transportation studies, corridor development plans, traffic signal system design, traffic signal interconnect design, traffic signal system timing, intersection geometric design, lighting system design, traffic signing design, pavement marking and channelization design, traffic safety studies, level of service computations, residential traffic calming program development, parking lot design pedestrian and bikeway design, expert witness services, speed studies, and review of development proposals.

Because of their high respect and trust in TCN, several municipalities have repeatedly retained the firm on an "on-call" basis to help the agency over peak workload periods by producing special studies, reports, designs and reviewing of development proposals.

Private client work has included traffic impact studies of proposed developments, traffic signal design, lighting system design, trip generation studies, video surveillance queue analysis, intersection sight distance measurements, parking lot design, and expert witness services.

Real World Experience
TCN’s founder, Timothy Miller, is a professional engineer registered in Alaska,Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Prior to founding TCN he served as City Traffic Engineer for three cities totaling over 11 years. He also served as a Traffic/Safety Engineer with Alaska DOT for seven years.

Through his more than 27 years of experience in the field Mr. Miller has learned that each project is unique and cannot be treated as a clone. He has committed his direct involvement in each project to assure every client their project will be developed especially for them, not simply copied from previous work.
